Why export AVIF as PNG
AVIF is excellent for delivery on the web, but editors, older desktop apps, and some print workflows still expect PNG. Converting gives you a widely supported lossless copy without uploading the file to a server.
PNG does not recover detail that AVIF compression already removed. Treat AVIF as the delivery original only if you still have a higher-quality source elsewhere.

Does PNG keep AVIF transparency?
Yes. If the AVIF contains an alpha channel, the PNG keeps transparent areas.
Will PNG improve quality over AVIF?
No. PNG prevents further loss, but it cannot restore pixels discarded when the AVIF was encoded.
Why is the PNG so much larger?
AVIF uses modern lossy or lossless compression tuned for photos. PNG stores decoded pixels losslessly, which typically needs more disk space.
